50th Anniversary

New display

This year is our 50th Anniversary as a Museum open to the public, celebrating our historic town and its people. Some of us were not even born then and some were just tiny tots at the time, so our new display of items from 50 years ago has focused on toys from the period. Can you see anything you remember playing with?

Schools Art Competition

The Museum recently held a 1950’s Art Competition as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations.

The prize-giving was held on 5th April, when Mrs Jowett presented the prizes.

New book - help to make it happen!

Chris Potts's book on the Museum's 50 years is shortly going to go to print. Some of the costs are being underwritten by Chris himself and the rest we have to meet from donations. It doesn't matter how much or how little - every pound helps. When the project was begun no-one envisaged how tight the finances would become, and chris has put in an incredible amount of time. Please help us to complete this excellent project - send a donation to the Museum now! At the same time please let us know if you are interested in purchasing a book when it is published, so we have an ideas of numbers. The cost is likely to be £4 to members, plus postage.

Angie's friend Ivy is also due special thanks for her essential contribution to our anniversary display at the top of this page! Where would we be without all our friends over the last 50 years?
