Brixham Heritage Database

The entries below are taken from the earliest surviving register of boys sent to the British Seamans' Orphan Boys' Home, Brixham. The order is that of the original register. Many of the boys entered the navy, via Greenwich Royal Hospital School, shortened to RHS. The Museum archive includes many later registers and record books of the Boys' Home, which are currently on loan to the Museum. Because of the sensitivity of the subject of orphanage, limited information only is available, and then only to those who can establish that they or an ancestor attended the Home.
